LEAVES ON A LOG

This is done in both Prisma Colored Pencils for image and oil pastels for back ground... As I painted this I thought a lot about spring and the changes the future may bring.

HAMADRYADES...Daughters of the Forest

Air dry clay on manzanita branch colored with washes from light to dark using raw sienna, burnt  sienna, burnt umber light and lastly burnt umber with mars black added to darken. After that I dry brushed the light burnt umber on and then used metallic rubs to add highlights.

THE HAMADRYADES ...
were eight Dryad nymph daughters of the forest spirit Oxylos ("Of the Forest") and Hamadryas ("With the Tree"), who inhabited Mount Oita in Phthiotis.

BACK GARDEN ART

Today I finished touching up and Bob hung my paintings on the back fence where my other three 3  hung..They were a soft green background with a white border, silhouette of a branch with a paper bird glued on ...They had faded and needed refreshing...These are same boards but repainted and much more colorful. The three paintings are a  2'x2' square...They are painted in acrylics on 1/2" plywood. The border is Titan Buff and the outline is done with a  black  permanent marker. All paints are Golden tube paints

I think you will agree they are a happy addition to my garden

SERENGETI SPIRIT

A couple of years ago I started this weaving and finally today I finished...I have named it...

SERENGETI SPIRIT

The bottom layer is the grass lands, then comes the river (blue) after that is the vast sunbaked plains with a lake in the middle then there is the foothills to the high snow capped mountains with an cloud studded blue sky...The embellishments are hand formed clay objects with leather lacing.  All of these things I had in my "found" drawers.

PIN DOLLS

I had a collection of over 50 pin dolls, made or collected from my years of dollmaking. In the process of cleaning out my home of too much stuff I decided they needed to have new homes so I have gifted some and then let my grand daughters pick some for themselves...the ones that were left have been given to an upscale consignment/thrift store. ...
