This is a piece I have been working on for my son Barry.
Made from 4 iron feet he gave me and ask me to make something with. They sat around for several months as I looked and thought and finally after being inspired by some art I saw online I finished them. Here is what I worked with and how I did the finished art.
The feet were black and after I filled them with foil then using poly clay to sculpted onto the foil I made a base to hold a clay book.Actually it is two lay tablets holding papers in between to give the illusion of being aged paper with writing and pictures on them.
I painted the base with a green paint then using copper rub turned it into burnished copper..

The tablets are made with cardboard covered with plaster wrap and then plaster itself. That gives it stability. Then they were painted with a Terracotta color paint, embellished and held together with a leather lash. I burned the edges of the paper to age it. The tablets are removable from the base.
