This is the book by Kumiko Sudo that I used for inspiration. I have all of her books and love each one equally. Even the paper used for printing is wonderful. It is like feeling fine fabric.
This is the pattern I altered to make a kindle case instead of a sunglass case. I love Japanese art and design. It is so beautiful in it's simplicity.
This is my Kindle Fire case
It is made by layering a piece of felt to a piece of fabric and hand sewing together,,,Do this twice so there is a front and back. Then make the leaves with two layers of felt, embroidery the center rib and embellish with beads. The flower is made by folding a strip of fabric the long way, gathering it and sewing it in place with felt and a button comprising the center of the flower.
The stems are made by folding a strips of felt into thirds, rolling the bottom end and appliqueing it down in place.
When all of the front design is sewn on the lining of the case is made by sewing a second piece of felt onto the back side of both front and back then using a herringbone stitch the two sides are joined on three sides...
WOW! Every single part of this case is hand sewn. I have not done that much hand sewing for years. but..it was very relaxing and I enjoyed every moment of it.
What a pretty case, Darlene. Your work is always so interesting and getting some background on the subject is an added plus. I'm glad you're taking some time just for you ahd what you want.
