HONORING AND GROUNDING Life Book 2013...Quirky Birds

To start out the month of Honoring and grounding we did a class with Tam LaPorte called Quirky Birds. I used 140 lb watercolor paper and created a back ground by first using crayons and  gesso. This was covered with a coat of clear gesso to preserve the background to this point.

Then I used stencils and Prismacolor markers to add the leaves.

Then I used a brayer and a sienna crayon to add a touch of color to tone the whole back ground down some

After that the birds were hatched. Each with a different look but all using water soluble crayons, acrylic paints, Prismacolor markers, gesso and colored pencils.

Then meaningful words were added to each bird and the branch along the bottom

After that, because this is going to be an accordion pleated book  I needed to finish the back of the pages so first I finished with a coat of crayons and gesso and then printed out some favorite quotes and pasted them on.

  1. Love your "honoring" and "grounding" work. The images and colors succeed in doing just that for me.
